Anti-Discrimination group in Chattogram warns Hasanat Abdullah after rejecting new committees

A faction of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Chattogram has made strong demands, including the cancellation of newly announced district committees.

If these demands are not met, they have warned that Hasanat Abdullah, the central coordinator of the movement, will be declared "unwanted" in the city.

The warning came during an emergency press conference held on Tuesday, February 18, at the Chattogram Press Club.

Abdul Basir Naim, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Chattogram, shared the three main demands.

He said that the newly formed committees had included people accused of extortion, terrorism, and involvement in juvenile gangs.

In addition, several individuals had been assigned multiple roles within the committees. Due to this, they declared that all members of these committees are now unwanted.

Abdul Basir Naim pointed out that the responsibility for this controversial committee formation lay with Hasanat Abdullah and Arif Sohel.

He warned that if their demands are ignored, Hasanat Abdullah will be declared unwanted in Chattogram.

During the press conference, other coordinators, Jobayer Manik and Siam Elahi, also added their voices to the protests.

They made it clear that if the committees were not canceled and an interim committee formed to address the accusations, they would block roads in Chattogram city by 3 PM that day.

In line with their promise, members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have already begun blocking roads in the Lal Khan Bazar area.

This action has caused a massive traffic jam, stretching over 2 kilometers, and created serious inconvenience for the public.
