Students at Dhaka University staged a protest on Saturday afternoon, expressing outrage over the tragic rape and murder of a Bangladeshi woman in Bengaluru, India.
The rally began at 4:00 PM in front of the Raju Sculpture on the university campus.
During the demonstration, students raised their voices with strong anti-India slogans, condemning the crime and questioning how a country that cannot protect its own women could ensure the safety of neighboring countries.
“How can a country that fails to protect women at home keep its neighbors safe?”
one protester asked.
The protesters also called on the government to take stronger action, saying that incidents like this highlight India’s failure to respect Bangladeshis.
“From Felani to Nazma, no one has ever received the justice or respect they deserve from India,” another protester declared.
The students also criticized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its silence on the matter, accusing the government of being passive in its response.
“This is a weak foreign policy,” one student said.
They demanded an immediate explanation from the Indian High Commission and justice for the murder of Nazma.
According to reports from Indian media, the woman was found dead on Friday morning in a lake in the Kalakere area of Bengaluru’s Ramamurthy Nagar.
Local police discovered her body after she had been raped and killed.
