The National Consensus Commission will begin discussions with political parties on Thursday as part of its efforts to build a national consensus on reforms.
This information was announced in a press release signed by SM Fazlur Rahman, the commission’s public relations officer, on Tuesday, March 18.
According to the release, the first phase of discussions is scheduled for Thursday at 3:00 PM, with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The schedules for discussions with other parties will be announced in phases.
The press release also stated that the National Consensus Commission was formed with the goal of creating national unity on reforms, under the chairmanship of the interim government’s Chief Advisor, Professor Yunus.
The commission began its activities on February 15.
In the first phase, reform commissions were established, including the Constitutional Reform Commission, the Public Administration Reform Commission, the Electoral System Reform Commission, the Judicial Reform Commission, and the Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission.
The political parties were asked to provide their specific opinions on the important recommendations mentioned in these commissions` reports by March 13.
A spreadsheet of these recommendations was sent to 38 political parties, and so far, 15 parties have provided feedback to the commission.
