The high court has directed to include historic March 7 speech, delivered by father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in the textbook of secondary, higher secondary and university level.
A high court bench of justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and justice Sahed Nur Uddin passed the order on Tuesday (September 8).
The court also asked to install Banglabandhu’s statue with his forefinger which he raised during the March 7 speech at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
Lawyer Dr. Bashir Ahmed filed a writ petition with the high court regarding the issue and confirmed the fresh directives to media.
Earlier on February 5 last year the high court said, the historic speech of the father of the nation should be included in the text book. The present generation should know the speech. The court came up with the observation while conducting hearing over a writ petition seeking March 7 as ‘National Historic Day’.
