Medical board to observe Khaleda Zia’s condition this evening

The medical board, formed for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s treatment, will hold a meeting today to observe her physical condition, reports Prothom Alo quoting the BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare hospital in the capital Friday night after she fell ill abruptly.

She had been hospitalised five times since she was infected with coronavirus in April last year. Earlier on 6 April, she was taken to the Evercare hospital for regular health checkups.

The medical board consists of 16 physicians headed by the hospital's cardiology department head Dr. Shahabuddin Talukdar, as Shairul was quoted.

On Sunday, the party vice-chairman and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, AZM Zahid Hossain said, the former prime minister has been kept in the intensive care unit (ICU) for 72 hours since 2 pm Saturday.

Khaleda has been diagnosed with three blocks in her heart. One of them was most critical where a stent (ring) has been installed.

The 76-year-old former prime minister has been also suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung and eye problems.
