The government of Bangladesh has announced a day of mourning following the passing of A. F. Hasan Arif, who served as an advisor to the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
On Sunday, December 22, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdul Rashid signed an official notice to confirm the announcement.
The notice states that Monday, December 23, will be observed as a national day of mourning in honor of Hasan Arif.
As part of the mourning, flags will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings, educational institutions, and both private and public establishments across the country.
Bangladesh missions abroad will also follow this directive.
Additionally, special prayers will be held in mosques throughout Bangladesh on Monday, seeking peace and forgiveness for the soul of the late advisor.
Other places of worship will also arrange prayers for his eternal peace.
Hasan Arif, who was 83 years old, passed away on December 20 in a private hospital in Dhaka.
His son, Muaz Arif, shared with the media that his father suddenly fell to the floor.
He was quickly rushed to Labaid Hospital, but the doctors confirmed his death upon arrival.
