Recently, pictures of Republic Bangla news anchor Mayukh Ranjan Ghosh, showing him injured, have gone viral on Facebook, with claims that they are recent.

However, a fact-check by Rumor Scanner, a well-known organization from Bangladesh, has debunked these claims, revealing that the images are actually from four years ago.

On December 22, Rumor Scanner published a detailed report explaining that the viral pictures of Mayukh Ranjan, showing him in a severely injured condition, are not from the present time.

According to their findings, the anchor had originally posted these images on his own Facebook page back in January 2021. The images, which reflect a near-fatal incident in his life, are now resurfacing with misleading captions that suggest they are recent.

At the start of their investigation, Rumor Scanner searched for relevant keywords and found the original post on Mayukh Ranjan’s verified Facebook account.

In a post dated January 22, 2023, he shared the same photos. In the post’s caption, Ghosh explained that these pictures were taken three years ago, meaning the incident actually happened nearly four years back.

Mayukh Ranjan wrote in his caption, “It’s been three years since I came back from the brink of death. Today marks three years since I got a second chance at life. Three years since I fought a fierce battle, came out of a coma, and survived in the hands of doctors in the operation theater. Coincidentally, today is that very day. Whatever life is giving me, whatever I’m receiving from life, it’s enough! I’m alive, that’s enough!”

He also added, “When I look at this picture, I tell myself, yes, it is possible to rise again. If you have the determination, you can break even mountains with your bare hands. Don’t give up, fight on, fight on!!!”

Further investigation by Rumor Scanner found another post from Mayukh Ranjan dated June 23, 2023, where these same images were shared again.

This report makes it clear that the photos of Mayukh Ranjan Ghosh’s injuries are not recent, as many are claiming on social media.

The incident occurred nearly four years ago, and the images are being circulated now with incorrect information, misleading viewers online.
