Farooki fell ill due to ‘work pressure’: Tisha

Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki fell ill from “excessive work pressure,” his wife, actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha, has said.

Farooki, who is currently receiving treatment at a Dhaka hospital, is now out of danger, according to Tisha.

The adviser had traveled to Cox’s Bazar on Friday afternoon for a four-day trip and took part in several programs until Saturday evening. Later that night, news of his illness emerged.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin said, “Since evening, he (the adviser) had been experiencing abdominal pain. Later, doctors here examined him. We spoke with his family, and at 10:40 pm, he was flown to Dhaka.”

Civil Surgeon Mohammadul Haque said food poisoning was behind the sudden illness. Farooki was given initial treatment before being airlifted to Dhaka for further care.

In a Facebook post late Saturday night, Tisha wrote: “Mostofa Sarwar Farooki fell ill during a ministry workshop in Cox’s Bazar and was brought back to Dhaka. He is currently under medical care at the hospital. Doctors said he fell ill due to excessive work pressure. For now, he is out of danger. Please keep him in your prayers.”

Attempts to reach Tisha for further comment went unanswered. Several officials at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs also said they had no new information to provide.
