The Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Tajul Islam, has confirmed that the prosecution team does not have any details regarding the issuance of a red notice by Interpol against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to him, any such information would be available with the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Police Headquarters. This statement was shared with Independent TV Online.
Tajul Islam addressed these questions during a press conference at the ICT on Sunday, December 22, at around 1:15 p.m.
Earlier that day, several news outlets had reported, citing Tajul Islam, that a red notice might have been issued by Interpol against Sheikh Hasina.
However, in response to this, Tajul Islam said, "The prosecution does not have any information regarding the red notice. This information would be with the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Police Headquarters. On November 13, the Police Headquarters requested Interpol to issue a notice against Sheikh Hasina."
He also mentioned, "The investigation into the genocide and crimes against humanity charges against Sheikh Hasina is expected to be finished within three months."
Tajul Islam added that the tribunal is investigating several individuals, but Sheikh Hasina`s case is being prioritized. Once the investigation report is received, the trial will begin.
Additionally, when a search was conducted on Interpol`s website at 1:35 p.m., no details were found about a red notice being issued for Sheikh Hasina.
