Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has stated that the date for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election will be announced within a few days. He made the remark during a press conference held at the Secretariat on Thursday.
When asked about the exact timing of the announcement, the Law Adviser replied, "Just wait, you will hear the announcement in a few days."
He added that while the Election Commission is responsible for conducting the election process, the government is committed to ensuring the best election in Bangladesh’s history. “That is what the Chief Adviser always emphasizes,” he said.
Addressing concerns from a journalist who mentioned that many voters missed previous elections, Asif Nazrul assured, “Everyone will definitely be able to vote.”
On the government’s efforts to encourage voting rights, the adviser shared an anecdote from his school days, saying, “When I asked students who had voted, many laughed; some admitted voting once or twice, but ninety percent said they had never voted. We hope to overcome that regret now, as many have been unable to vote for the past 18 years.”
When questioned about the credibility of upcoming elections compared to the 2008 caretaker government election, Asif Nazrul said, “There is no doubt about the 2008 election’s legitimacy, although some may raise questions. Journalists who investigate will find troubling facts about that election.”
