Job seekers and students staged demonstration at the campus of Dhaka University on Saturday, calling on the government to raise the age limit from 30 to 35 years old for those seeking government jobs.

The programme began in front of Raju Memorial Sculpture at the TSC of Dhaka University at 10:30 a.m. with fifty to sixty job seekers.

The Ministry of Education recently suggested raising the age limit of thirty to thirty-five years to become a government employee.

The suggestion was outlined in a letter that was recently delivered to the Ministry of Public Administration by Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, Minister of Education.

But job seekers and students have been pushing for an increase in the age restriction on application submissions since long time.

The issue was recognized in the 2018 Awami League election manifesto, which also promised that the government will evaluate merit and skill when determining the appropriate age increase for government employment.
