Two people, suspected to be Ukrainian nationals, have been detained by Indian police at Badarpur Railway Station in northeastern Indian state of Assam.
Trischoiyanoski Voldimir and Narjari Vojniuk, were apprehended during routine checking of the Tripura Sundari Express train headed for Punjab state at Badarpur railway station on Thursday night.
They were travelling without valid documents, reports media quoting police.
"The security personnel asked them for documents but they were not able to show any passport or visa. They were taken off the train and brought to the Badarpur police station," said the police official.
"We are interrogating them for details but the language barrier is proving to be a hindrance," added the police officer saying the duo had boarded the train at Agartala Railway Station.
