Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, stressed the urgent need for local elections before holding the national polls, stating that it’s the key to relieving the public‍‍`s current hardships.

He made this appeal during a street rally organized by the district Jamaat in Hajiganj Bishwa Road, Chandpur, on Saturday afternoon.

Addressing the rally, Dr. Shafiqur stated, “On the 5th, a group has fallen apart. For those who engage in such crimes, August 5 serves as a reminder that it comes around every year. Once people understand the significance of August 5, they will no longer tolerate tyranny and corruption.”

The rally was presided over by Advocate Md. Masudul Islam Bulbul, Naib-e-Ameer of the district Jamaat, and conducted by Advocate Shahjahan Miah, the district Jamaat Secretary and former Vice Chairman.

Among the key speakers were Central Majlis-e-Shura member and former Ameer of Cumilla South District, Freedom Fighter Md. Abdus Sattar.
