The death toll from twin school shooting in Brazil rose to four on Saturday. According to officials, a teacher wounded in the attack died from her injuries yesterday.
Authorities in the Espirito Santo state city of Aracruz had reported that several of the about 10 injured, including three instructors and a student, were in bad condition following the attack on Friday.
"With deep regret we confirm the death of another victim, teacher Flavia Amboss Mercon," tweeted state Governor Renato Casagrande, who had declared three days of mourning in Espirito Santo, reports AFP.
A former student who was carrying a semiautomatic pistol and wearing a bulletproof vest broke into two schools in southeast Brazil and started firing, killed four people and injured 13, authorities said.
In the small town of Aracruz in Espirito Santo state, the shootings happened at a public school with elementary and middle school children and a private school, both are situated on the same street, according to a statement from the state`s public security office.
The shooter, a 16-year-old teenager who had attended the public school, was arrested by police four hours later, according to Espirito Santo Governor Renato Casagrande. Authorities decided not to name the suspect.
In addition to the fatalities, 13 others were injured including nine teachers, according to Celante, who also mentioned that two children and six other injured people were still being treated in hospitals.
