Tucker Carlson, a well-known conservative journalist, has made a shocking claim that the Biden administration attempted to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He raised this allegation on Monday, with Politico reporting on the matter.
In the latest episode of his podcast, The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson, who used to host a show on Fox News, boldly stated,
The Biden administration did, they tried to kill Putin.
However, Carlson did not offer any proof or evidence to back up his serious claim about the assassination attempt.
Carlson further described the idea as "absolutely insane" and criticized it as a "distorted mentality" to even think about such actions.
He went on to ask,
"That’s demented, that you would even think of something like that. So why were they? Because chaos is a screen that protects them."
He suggested that the Biden administration has been trying to carry out this plan since early 2021, and it could continue until the start of 2025.
It’s worth mentioning that Carlson was removed from Fox News in 2023 after the network faced legal issues related to broadcasting false claims about election fraud during the 2020 US presidential election.
Carlson has also been vocal about supporting some of the Kremlin`s views, criticizing US military support for Ukraine, and calling Ukraine “not a democracy.”
On the other hand, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to Carlson’s remarks by assuring the public that President Putin is well-protected from any potential threats.
When asked about Carlson’s statements, Peskov neither confirmed nor denied the claim but avoided commenting on whether US officials had ever thought about such a plan.
He stated,
"Russian security agencies always maintain the highest level of vigilance to ensure the safety of individuals under state protection, with the primary focus being the security of the head of state."
US officials have never admitted to having any intentions of targeting Russian or Soviet leaders for assassination.
However, back in September 2022, Newsweek reported that if Russia were to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the US government had considered a "decapitation strike," aiming to take out Russian leadership.
Still, Moscow has firmly stated that they have no such plans.
