Advocate Bhuban Chandra Shil (53), a motorcycle rider, died this noon after being shot by gunfire from terrorists in capital`s Tejgaon last week.
He died at Popular Medical College Hospital on Monday at 10:35 am. The police are preparing to send the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Confirming Bhubn`s death, his brother-in-law Palash Chandra Shil said, `My brother-in-law passed away this morning. The body will be handed over to the family after postmortem".
Bhuban`s physical condition was gradually deteriorating in the hospital. He was kept on life support in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital until his death.
Bhuban Shil was taken to the operating room at 9:30 pm on Friday. Doctors performed brain surgery on him. The two bullet splinters were removed after a two-and-a-half-hour surgery, but the bullet remained in the brain. Doctors were concerned that after the bullets are removed, his brain`s 4% response will be deactivated.
Bhuvan was shot while riding motorcycle on the road between City Petrol Pump and BG Press in Tejgaon industrial area of the capital last Monday around 9:30 pm. The bullet went through his head. Top terrorist Tariq Sayeed alias Mamun`s private car was targeted by terrorists and Bhuban was injured after missing the target.
In this incident, seven-eight unidentified persons were accused in the case of attempted murder filed by Bhuban`s wife Ratna Rani Shil at Tejgaon Shilpanchal police station.
