On the third day, 155 people appealed to the Election Commission (EC) to get their nominations back in the 12th National Assembly elections. With this, the total number of appellants in the last three days stood at 338. Among them, a total of six have applied for cancellation of candidature.
This information was known by the Election Commission on Thursday.
Election Commission Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said that the number of candidates in 300 parliamentary seats was 2,716. Out of this 731 nominations were rejected during scrutiny. According to the announced schedule, there is an opportunity to file an appeal against it from December 5 to 15. A total of 338 appeals have been filed so far, including the third day (today). 42 appeals were filed on the first day, 141 on the second day and 155 on the third day (today).
The secretary said that these appeals will be heard from the 10th. Later on 17th December the candidature will be withdrawn and the symbol will be allotted on 18th. The campaign will start from then.
