North Korea has closed its embassy in Bangladesh. They closed the embassy on Tuesday (21 November).
A source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this information in a report on Monday (November 27).
An official of Bangladesh`s foreign ministry said, North Korea has informed Bangladesh that the country has shifted its embassy to Delhi for better operations.
However, the official believes that North Korea has moved its embassy due to financial crisis. They also shifted its embassy from Nepal.
According to the sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, North Korea informed about the closure of the embassy through a diplomatic letter a month ago. Then the country`s ambassador left Bangladesh on November 21.
According to the source, the North Korean embassy in Delhi will take care of their interests in Bangladesh from now on.
The embassy of North Korea started working in Bangladesh from 1974. Bangladesh also does not have an embassy in North Korea. The Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing, China looks after relations with North Korea as a `nearby mission`.
The North Korean ambassador informed Bangladesh that the country will reopen its embassy in Bangladesh in the future.
