Faridpur, August 15: Three people, including a woman, were killed and seven others critically injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway.
The accident occurred around 12:30 pm near Kanaipur Bazar in Sadar Upazila.
Authorities have identified two of the deceased as Ranjit Kumar and Atiyar Rahman. The seriously injured victims were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to the Officer-in-Charge of Karimpur Highway Police Station, the crash occurred when the Royal Express bus heading to Dhaka collided head-on with a DD Paribahan bus traveling toward Chuadanga. The front sections of both buses were severely damaged.
At least ten critically injured passengers were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where three were pronounced dead, including a woman.
Rescue operations were swiftly completed, and traffic on the highway was restored shortly afterward.
