Protesters have sieged a Police van as the driver failed to show legal papers. The incident took place at Farmgate area in the capital on Thursday (November 25).
Students of various colleges held demonstrations in the area pressing several demands including half fare at public buses and justice for Notre Dame College student Nayeem Hasan who was hit and killed by a garbage truck on Wednesday.
The agitating students took control of traffic movement and started checking legal documents of vehicles like the road safety movement in 2018.
They sieged a bus of Dhaka Metropolitan Police for an hour as the vehicle had no legal record. The bus driver said, he had a license but he kept it at his office.
Though students left away the bus after an hour they labeled the bus titled "Why police have no license”.
Nayeem Hasa, a student of Notre Dame College was killed in a road accident in front of Gulistan Hall Market in Gulistan area in Dhaka when he was hit by a waste-carrying vehicle of Dhaka South City Corporation Wednesday.
The mishap fueled the protest of students who had been voicing for half pass at all public transports for a couple of days adding a new demand for safe roads.
