In line with a commitment made by its acting chairman Tarique Rahman, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has provided financial support for the treatment of four youth activists who lost their eyesight during the mass uprising in July, which the party describes as a stand against authoritarianism.
On Thursday, BNP’s Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and convener of “Amra BNP Poribar” Atikur Rahman Rumon visited the four injured activists at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital to check on their recovery and deliver financial aid on behalf of Tarique Rahman.
The delegation expressed solidarity and conveyed Rahman`s message of support, assuring that the party stands beside them during their treatment journey.
They also held discussions with the attending physicians to ensure that the victims are receiving appropriate medical care.
Those who received the support include Shimul, Maruf, Sagar, and Akhtar Hossain (Taher), all of whom suffered critical eye injuries during the political unrest.
Other members present during the hospital visit included advisors to ‘Amra BNP Poribar’ Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, Abul Kashem, Engineer Mostafa-e-Jaman Selim, member secretary Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, and members Masud Rana Liton, Mustakim Billah, and Farhad Ali Sojib.
