Yemen’s Houthi group launched four ballistic missiles at government-held areas along the country’s western coast on Wednesday evening, as renewed fighting intensified between the two sides.
Three missiles struck the Red Sea port of Mocha in southwestern Taiz province, while another hit the coastal city of Al-Khawkhah in neighbouring Hodeidah province, according to Yemen’s government forces.
A military source said the missiles were fired from Houthi-controlled mountainous areas east of Taiz city.
Residents in Mocha reported hearing three powerful explosions following the attacks. No casualties were immediately reported.
The Houthis have not issued any statement on the reported missile strikes.
Mocha, a strategically important port on the Red Sea under government control, has come under repeated Houthi missile and drone attacks in recent weeks.
The latest strikes come as clashes between the Houthis and government forces have intensified across several fronts. Government troops have stepped up drone and artillery attacks against Houthi positions, while the Houthis have continued targeting areas held by government forces.
