A clash broke out between RMG workers and police in Ashulia`s Jamgora area when the workers tried to block Abdullahpur-Bypal road this morning.
Police are firing rubber bullets, tear gas shells and using water cannons to disperse the workers demonstrating for wage increase.
Several people were injured in the clash.
According to police, the fight started at 8:30 a.m. when over 1,000 workers tried to block the road but encountered with resistance from the police.
Mahmud Naser Johny, additional superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1 said that workers were gathering on the road after their attendance in the morning at the Ashulia garment factories.
The clash broke out when officers tried to clear the road, said the police officer.
