A joint forces operation in Rajshahi city’s Kadirganj area led to the detention of three individuals and the recovery of firearms, bomb-making equipment, and other materials from a coaching center on Saturday morning.
Among those detained is Montasebul Alam Anindya, an English teacher and owner of “Doctor English” coaching center. Two others—Md. Robin and Md. Faisal—were held on suspicion.
Anindya had previously been arrested in connection with the murder of Rajshahi University English Department teacher Rezaul Karim, though he was later cleared of charges.
He is also the son of Shafiul Alam Lattu, former vice-president of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP, and has long faced allegations of militant involvement. Joint forces, however, have yet to officially comment on this.
In a press release issued at noon, the Army stated that the raid yielded three firearms with ammunition, a military-grade binocular and sniper scope, six locally made weapons, seven foreign daggers, five advanced walkie-talkies, a military-grade GPS, a taser gun, local and foreign cartridges, a large number of unused SIM cards, bomb-making equipment, six computer sets, Tk 7,445 in cash, alcoholic beverages, and 11 nitrogen cartridges.
