As part of the anti-drug drives in the capital, members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a total of 45 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6am on Friday.
According to a press release issued by the DMP, police conducted the operations against drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations and detained 45 drug traffickers. Huge quantities of drugs were recovered from their possession from 6am of April 14 to 6 am today.
During the anti-drug drive, police seized 436 grams and 510 puria (small packet) of heroin, 6.225 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 7,360 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 1420 bottles of phensidyl from them, it said.
Police filed 32 cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
