Dr. Yunus honors Manmohan Singh’s legacy at Indian High Commission in Dhaka

On Tuesday, December 31, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus paid a heartfelt tribute to former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. 

Yunus visited the mission to honor Singh, who passed away recently, by placing a floral wreath at his portrait. 

He also signed the condolence book, expressing his sorrow and respect.

Indian High Commissioner Pranay Kumar Verma welcomed Professor Yunus to the High Commission at 11:30 AM. 

The two shared a brief conversation during Yunus’s visit, reflecting on the legacy of Singh.

Speaking about the late leader, Professor Yunus described Manmohan Singh as “a very simple and knowledgeable person,” adding, “Manmohan Singh played a major role in turning India into a great global economic power.”

Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister for over a decade, passed away on December 26 at the age of 92. 

His funeral, held on December 28, was a solemn occasion with full state honors at Delhi‍‍`s Nigambodh Ghat. India is observing a seven-day period of mourning to honor his memory.
