The Bangladesh government has decided to revert the office hours for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions to their previous schedule.

On Monday, June 3, the decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.

Following the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain informed journalists at the Secretariat that starting from after the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, government offices will operate from 9 AM to 5 PM, as they did previously.

He stated, "For some time, offices have been running from 9 AM to 4 PM. After the Eid-ul-Azha holiday, offices will operate from 9 AM to 5 PM. There will be a prayer and lunch break from 1 PM to 1:30 PM, and the weekly holidays will be Friday and Saturday."

Previously, government employees worked from 9 AM to 5 PM. However, on August 24, 2022, the government shortened working hours to save electricity during an energy crisis, changing the office and banking hours. Consequently, for over two months, all government and autonomous offices operated from 8 AM to 3 PM.

After more than two months of the 8 AM to 3 PM schedule, starting from November 15, 2022, all government and autonomous offices have been operating from 9 AM to 4 PM.
