Income tax receipt required for community center rentals

From now on, to rent community centers or halls for weddings, social events, seminars, and reunions, an income tax return receipt must be shown.

Currently, there are 43 services that require an income tax return receipt. This list now includes renting auditoriums, hotels, motels, restaurants, hospitals, clinics, and registering or renewing licenses for diagnostic centers.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali mentioned this during the proposed budget speech for the fiscal year 2024-2025, held in the National Parliament under the chairmanship of Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury. Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina were also present at the budget session.

Prior to this, the budget was approved by the Cabinet and later signed by President Md. Shahabuddin.

On Thursday, June 6, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali presented the largest budget in the country‍‍`s history, amounting to Tk 7,97,000 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, in the National Parliament.

This marks the 53rd budget of independent Bangladesh and the 21st under the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The previous fiscal year‍‍`s (2023-24) budget was Tk 7,61,000 crore.
