Jamaat-e-Islami has not been allowed to hold a rally, but if it tries to hold a rally, action will be taken according to the law, said Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Head of CTTC Md. Asaduzzaman.
He said this on Saturday around 10 am.
He said, "Jamaat has not been given permission to hold a rally, but action will be taken as per law if it tries to hold a rally. Sufficient force of police is deployed to deal with any situation."
Meanwhile, law and order forces are in a strict position in Motijheel Shapla Chattar area since last night. The police have barricaded all the entrances to Shapla Chattar since morning. No one is allowed to go there. However, the leaders and activists removed the barricade set up at Arambagh junction around 8:40 am. Later, the police quickly removed the leaders and workers and set up barricades again.
It was seen that the police has barricaded the way to Shapla Chattar via Arambagh junction since morning. It was causing problems for the processions coming from Kamalapur towards the assembly of Paltan. Since morning, the leaders-activists have tried to sit down at this intersection several times. There were several rounds of heated exchanges with the police due to the creation of obstacles on the way.
