Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho has resigned from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.
He announced his decision during a press conference held on Thursday, May 8, following a board meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna.
The meeting was presided over by the foundation’s President and Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Snigdho cited academic commitments and the pressure of his responsibilities as the main reasons for stepping down.
“Due to increasing workload, I’ve been unable to focus on my studies. That’s why I’ve decided to resign and continue contributing to the foundation as a general member,” he said.
Lt Col (retd) Kamal Akbar has been named as the new CEO of the foundation.
Snigdho is the younger brother of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, who was martyred during the July 2024 mass uprising.
The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation was formed in the aftermath of the 2024 uprising to honor those who lost their lives during the pro-democracy movement.
The foundation has since worked to preserve their memory through educational programs, social initiatives, and policy advocacy aimed at preventing future political violence.
Snigdho had been serving as CEO since its inception and played a key role in shaping its early direction.
