Liverpool suffered another late setback in the Premier League as Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison scored in injury time to secure a 1–1 draw, leaving the Reds frustrated at full-time.

Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool ahead in the 18th minute, but the hosts failed to hold their lead as defensive lapses in the closing stages once again proved costly.

Reflecting on the result, Szoboszlai warned that the team must address its recurring problem of conceding late goals.
“We have to wake up because if we carry on like this, we should be happy with the Conference League,” he said.

Liverpool have now conceded eight goals in the 90th minute or later this season  the most in a single Premier League campaign in the club’s history  with all of them costing valuable points.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher said the pattern could threaten the club’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

“This is an absolute disaster in terms of Champions League qualification,” Carragher said, pointing to the team’s repeated late collapses despite rivals dropping points.

Manager Arne Slot also acknowledged the defensive concerns.

Statistics show Liverpool have conceded 15 league goals from the 75th minute onward this season, the highest tally in the Premier League.

Despite the disappointing result, 17-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha impressed on his first Premier League start, completing seven dribbles  the most by a player on debut since May 2023. Slot praised the youngster’s performance and suggested he could receive more playing time in future matches.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the table, one point ahead of Chelsea and two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, making the remaining matches crucial in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
