Detectives were attacked during an anti-drug operation in Tongi on Wednesday night, forcing police to use sound grenades to control the situation.
The incident took place in the Keranirtek area under Tongi East Police Station when a team from the Detective Branch of Gazipur Metropolitan Police went to conduct a raid at the house of a suspected drug trader.
Police said a group of around 10 to 12 people suddenly attacked the team, leaving two officers seriously injured.
To bring the situation under control, officers used several sound grenades and later detained seven people from the spot. It took nearly three hours to restore order.
In a separate operation in the Haji Mazar slum area under Tongi West Police Station, law enforcers detained 21 more suspected drug traders and users.
Confirming the incident, Md Belayet Hossain said the situation is now under control and legal action is being taken against those involved.
Police said operations against drug-related activities in the area will continue.
