Bangladesh`s measles death toll has climbed to 816 after six more children died with symptoms consistent with the disease in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities have been classified as suspected measles-related deaths.
With the new deaths, the number of suspected measles fatalities has increased to 721, while the number of laboratory-confirmed deaths remains unchanged at 95.
During the same period, health authorities recorded 613 new suspected measles cases, taking the nationwide total to 122,763.
The DGHS also confirmed 78 additional measles infections through laboratory testing, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 15,272.
Since March 15, a total of 105,298 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 101,535 have recovered, according to the latest DGHS data.
