Gold prices in Bangladesh climbed for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,741 per bhori, taking it to Tk 2,24,182, including VAT.
In a notice issued on Wednesday morning, BAJUS said the latest adjustment was made following an increase in the price of pure gold in the domestic market. The revised rates came into effect from 10:00am.
Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold is now being sold at Tk 2,14,093 per bhori (11.664 grams), while the price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 1,83,883. Traditional gold will now cost Tk 1,50,232 per bhori.
The association said the revised prices will remain in force until further notice. However, jewellery buyers will still have to pay separate making charges depending on the design and craftsmanship of each ornament.
BAJUS also reminded customers that VAT is already included in the listed selling prices of gold and silver ornaments, meaning jewellers are not allowed to charge VAT separately.
It added that existing policies regarding the exchange and buyback of jewellery, excluding applicable VAT, making charges and the value of embedded stones, remain unchanged.
The latest revision follows Tuesday`s price hike, when BAJUS raised the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,633 per bhori to Tk 2,21,441.
With Wednesday`s increase, BAJUS has revised gold prices 93 times so far this year. Of those adjustments, prices have risen on 45 occasions, fallen 47 times and been revised once due to changes in VAT.
Silver prices were also increased alongside gold.
According to the updated rates, 22-carat silver now sells at Tk 4,782 per bhori after an increase of Tk 175. The price of 21-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 4,549 per bhori, while 18-carat silver now costs Tk 3,907 and traditional silver Tk 2,974 per bhori.
Silver prices have been revised 57 times in 2026, including 29 increases and 28 reductions.
