Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mustakur Rahman visited Nila Market in Purbachal New Town on Saturday to encourage wider use of the `Bangla QR` digital payment system.
He was accompanied by senior officials of the central bank, along with representatives from commercial banks and payment service providers (PSPs) involved in the initiative.
Dring the visit, the governor toured different shops and spoke with traders and customers about the advantages of digital payments.
He encouraged them to use Bangla QR for everyday transactions, describing it as a secure, fast and convenient payment solution.
To demonstrate how the system works, Rahman purchased several items from market vendors and paid for them using Bangla QR.
He expressed hope that the campaign would increase public awareness and encourage more businesses and consumers to adopt Bangla QR for their daily financial transactions.
