Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has signed an 18-month contract with Chilean football giants Colo Colo following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The move was confirmed by Aníbal Mosa, president of Blanco y Negro, the company that manages Colo Colo.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper emerged as one of the tournament‍‍`s surprise performers after producing a string of outstanding displays against some of the world‍‍`s top teams, including eventual champions Spain and defending champions Argentina.

Colo Colo announced the signing on Friday through its social media platforms, posting a welcoming message to the veteran goalkeeper that was met with enthusiastic reactions from supporters.

The signing has also attracted significant attention in Chile, where the national team failed to qualify for a third successive World Cup.

Speaking to reporters, Mosa said Vozinha is expected to arrive in Chile in the coming days to complete medical examinations before being officially unveiled at Estadio Monumental, Colo Colo‍‍`s home ground in Santiago.

Born Josimar Dias but widely known as Vozinha, the experienced goalkeeper played a key role in Cape Verde‍‍`s historic World Cup campaign.

The African island nation reached the Round of 32 before suffering a 3-2 extra-time defeat to Lionel Messi‍‍`s Argentina.

His performances on the global stage also transformed him into an online sensation.

According to reports, his social media following surged from fewer than 50,000 before the tournament to nearly 29 million after the World Cup.
