Gold price drops by Tk 2,216 per bhori in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again announced a reduction in gold prices in the local market.

According to the latest decision, the price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price at Tk 244,711 per bhori.

The announcement was made in a press release on Tuesday (April 28), and the new rates have been effective since 10:00 am today.

The statement said, Prices of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market have declined. Considering the overall situation, new gold prices have been determined.

Under the revised rates:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk 244,711 per bhori
  • 21-carat gold: Tk 233,572 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk 200,213 per bhori
  • Traditional method gold: Tk 163,063 per bhori

Previously, on April 23, gold prices were also adjusted. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 3,266 per bhori to Tk 246,927.

Then, the prices were:

  • 21-carat gold: Tk 235,671 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk 202,020 per bhori
  • Traditional gold: Tk 164,521 per bhori

Those rates had also come into effect from 10:00 am that day.

So far this year, gold prices in the country have been adjusted 57 times — increased 32 times and decreased 25 times. In 2025, prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.

Alongside gold, silver prices have also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has been lowered by Tk 233 per bhori to Tk 5,482.

The new silver prices are:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk 5,482 per bhori
  • 21-carat silver: Tk 5,190 per bhori
  • 18-carat silver: Tk 4,491 per bhori
  • Traditional silver: Tk 3,383 per bhori

This year, silver prices have been adjusted 36 times — increased 19 times and decreased 17 times. In 2025, there were 13 adjustments, with 10 increases and 3 decreases.
