The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a youth named Bayazid Talha for uploading a TikTok video by removing the nuts-bolts of the Padma Bridge railing.
He was arrested from the Capital's Shantinagar area on Sunday, said Rezaul Masud, a special superintendent of CID.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-awaited Padma Bridge on Saturday. As soon as the formalities were over, a large number of people climbed on the main bridge. As Padma Bridge opened to all this morning, many were seen taking photos, and making TikTok videos – stopping vehicles on the bridge, and creating chaos. Bayezid made the TikTok video after the bridge was opened to traffic today.
A 34-second long TikTok video went viral on social media where it was seen that the youth standing on Padma Bridge was removing nuts and bolts from its railing.
During the preliminary interrogation, the young man said that he was TikToking after removing the nuts and bolts of the railing of the bridge with the device in the toolbox of his motorcycle. He will be charged with attempting to destroy the Digital Security Act and government property.
After being opened to the public, various vehicles without public transport were seen stopping at the bridge all day long. Some people got out of the car with their family members and took pictures while walking.
