The government has set the prices for rawhide at Tk 55 to Tk 60 for Dhaka, while outside Dhaka, the price is Tk 50 to Tk 55 per square foot for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The new prices were announced by Mohammad Nasir Uddin Majumder, President of the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters Association, in the presence of Commerce Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu on Monday,at the Secretariat.
The price per square foot of rawhide has increased by Tk 5 compared to last year. Additionally, the minimum price per hide has been set, with cow rawhide in Dhaka priced at Tk 1,200 per piece and outside Dhaka at Tk 1,000 per piece.
The President of the Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters Association stated that this year`s purchase price for goat rawhide is set at Tk 20 to Tk 25 per square foot, and for sheep rawhide, it is Tk 18 to Tk 20 per square foot.
Last year, the price for cow rawhide in Dhaka was set at Tk 50 to Tk 55 per square foot, and outside Dhaka, it was Tk 45 to Tk 48 per square foot. The purchase price for goat rawhide was set at Tk 18 to Tk 20 per square foot, and for sheep rawhide, it was set at Tk 12 to Tk 14 per square foot.
