Bangladesh Secondary Assistant Teachers‍‍` Association Advocates for Work Abstention Over Saturday School Policy

In a bold move against the government‍‍`s recent policy decision, the Bangladesh Secondary Assistant Teachers‍‍` Association has announced plans for an hour-long work abstention. This protest is in response to the government‍‍`s directive to keep all schools open on Saturdays, a decision that has sparked controversy among educators across the nation.

Scheduled for May 11th, from 10 am to 11 am, the work abstention will be observed in secondary-level educational institutions nationwide. This initiative aims to convey the teachers‍‍` strong opposition to the Saturday school policy.

The association‍‍`s stance was made clear in a press release issued on Monday night. According to Mohammad Yasin, the organization‍‍`s vice-president, the decision to hold the protest was reached during an online meeting on May 4th.

"Teachers and employees of secondary schools at all levels are urged to participate in this hour-long work abstention as a form of protest," stated Yasin.

Expressing their discontent, the leaders emphasized that if the government fails to reconsider its decision, more stringent measures, such as full-day work abstentions every Saturday, will be implemented.

This move by the Bangladesh Secondary Assistant Teachers‍‍` Association highlights the deep concerns within the educational community regarding the impact of the Saturday school policy. It underscores the importance of dialogue and collaboration between educators and policymakers to address such contentious issues effectively.
