Eight of Queen Elizabeth II`s grandchildren gathered around her casket on Saturday, hours after King Charles III and his heir Prince William performed an unannounced walkabout in London to express their gratitude to mourners who had gathered overnight to pay their respects, reports AFP.
The 15-minute vigil was led by William and his estranged brother Prince Harry inside Westminster Hall of parliament, which has been the gathering place for tens of thousands of mourners ever since the late queen started lying in state there on Wednesday.
The grandchildren, who ranged in age from 44 to 14, remained motionless with their heads down as members of the public filed past.
