U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the mounting global agreement against Israel to implement a ceasefire and caution for a potential assault on Rafah, warning of the dire humanitarian consequences it could entail, during a visit to Jordan on Monday.
Guterres stated at a press briefing, "There is an increasing consensus within the international community to convey to Israel the imperative need for a ceasefire. I have also observed a growing alignment, including statements from the United States and the European Union, not to mention the sentiments echoed across the Muslim world, emphasizing to Israel the grave humanitarian ramifications of any ground incursion into Rafah."
