Hangman Shahjahan Bhuiyan released after 32 yrs of imprisonment

Shahjahan Bhuiyan, the hangman who hanged 26 people in various prisons of the country, has been released from prison after serving 32 years.

Executioner Shahjahan came out of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj at 12:15 pm today.

Shahjahan‍‍`s full name is Shahjahan Bhuiyan. He is the son of the deceased Hasen Ali of Ichakhali village of Palash police station of Narsingdi district. 73-year-old Shah Jahan is single in personal life. His prison number was 2589/A and he was the chief executioner of Dhaka Central Jail till his release.

Shahjahan Bhuiyan was detained in 1991, according to the jail administration. He was housed in the district jail at Manikganj. His sentence was reduced to 10 years in exchange for good behavior while working in prison and carrying out the executioner‍‍`s duty to put convicts on death row to execution.

Apart from this, as the financial condition of Shahjahan‍‍`s family is not good, the jail authorities have paid his fine of 10,000 taka in view of the application. As a result, he is now free after spending 31 years, six months, and two days in confinement in prison.
