In what can be seen as a major move of the party ahead of the next general election, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will sit with her grassroots party colleagues.
She, according to the Dhaka Tribune, disclosed the matter during a meeting with eight organizing secretaries of the party's central committee at Ganabhaban on Sunday afternoon.
Organizing secretaries present in the meeting told the newspaper: “Our president has discussed the organizational activities of our party up to the grassroots levels including the district and upazila units.”
She gave instructions to complete all unit councils before the next December.
The prime minister is expected to sit with the grassroots party leaders from next September, two of the organizing secretaries of Awami league said.
“The prime minister also ordered to prioritize the senior and dedicated leaders of the party while completing the full committees of district, upazila and ward units,” one of the organizing secretaries said.
The divisional organizing secretaries of Awami League BM Mozammel Hossain, Ahmed Hossain, Mirza Azam, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Sopon, SM Kamal Hossain, Shafiul Islam Nadel, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, among others, were present in the meeting.
The prime minister also discussed the recent price hike, demonstration of opposition parties and other recent issues.
