Chuadanga, a district in southwestern Bangladesh, is currently facing a cold wave, with temperatures dropping to as low as 9.3 degrees Celsius by Sunday morning, making the winter conditions harsher for residents.
Rakibul Hasan, a senior observer at the Meteorological Office, shared that the temperature was 9.5°C at 6 a.m., and later dropped further to 9.3°C by 9 a.m., with humidity levels hitting 88%.
The cold wave sweeping across the region has brought a sharp dip in temperature, making life tough for the people of Chuadanga. According to the local Meteorological Office, winter weather has been affecting the area since the start of December.
However, some relief may be on the way, as temperatures are expected to rise slightly later in the day, bringing an end to the cold wave by evening. After that, the weather is predicted to become more comfortable, with temperatures slowly increasing.
The cold weather has led to a rise in cold-related illnesses, especially among children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable to these conditions. Health concerns are growing as more people in the area are falling sick due to the harsh weather.
Farmers in the region are also worried about the heavy fog. The Agricultural Extension Department recently warned that the thick fog, if it continues, could harm the growth of newly planted paddy seedbeds, which may slow down the crops` development.
Despite these challenges, residents are hopeful for a break in the weather soon, as warmer days are expected ahead.
