Ruling ally Gonotantri Party lost all aspirants candidacy

The Gonotantri Party, a member of the ruling alliance, did not have a central committee approved by the commission, so the Election Commission decided on Tuesday to withdraw the candidacies of all of its candidates.

The commission wrote to each and every returning officer, regarding this.

The party‍‍`s president and general secretary recently submitted separate committee names to the commission, according to the EC‍‍`s letter. There isn‍‍`t currently a committee approved by the party.

Divided into two factions, the party fielded a total of 12 candidates for the upcoming 12th national poll, which is scheduled for January 7.

There are now 28 parties registered to vote nationwide in 12th national election after candidacies revoked.
