A biographical film on the life of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is in the making in Kolkata, with actor Kinjal Nanda portraying the role of the rebellious poet. The film, directed by Abdul Alim, has been titled `Kazi Nazrul Islam`.
Kinjal Nanda expressed his excitement, saying, "It`s the first time a biopic is being made on Kazi Nazrul Islam`s life. The film will portray Nazrul`s entire life. I am truly excited to have this opportunity. I have studied drama, but this character is very challenging. When you hear a name like Nazrul, and then you get to be a part of a film centered around him, it`s quite overwhelming! I can say this much, we know only so much about Nazrul, but there`s much more in this film than what we know."
Regarding his preparation for the role, Kinjal Nanda said, "I am reading some books. I will also discuss with playwright Sougata Basu, who has written dramas. Because, we all have limited knowledge about Nazrul, so bringing his character to life is quite difficult."
It is learned that in this biopic, Fazlul Haque`s character will be played by Kharaj Mukherjee from Kolkata, Devi`s character will be played by Kanchana Moitra, Fazlur Rahman Babu from Bangladesh will play Ali Akbar Khan`s character, and Shantilal Mukherjee will play Sajani Kant Das. Many casting decisions for the film are still pending.
