The investigation into the shocking attack on actor Saif Ali Khan has taken an unexpected turn after new evidence was found.
A Bangladeshi man, Shariful Islam Shehzad, who had been arrested in connection with the attack, has now been linked to 19 fingerprints found in the actor’s home.
However, after a thorough check, it has been confirmed that these fingerprints do not match those of Shehzad, completely changing the direction of the investigation.
This new revelation has completely altered the course of the investigation, as reported by NDTV.
The fingerprints collected from Saif’s apartment were found on various surfaces around his home, such as doors, windows, and furniture, suggesting the presence of other individuals at the scene. Investigators then compared these prints to Shehzad’s, but after testing, they found no match.
The fingerprints were sent to the CID’s fingerprint bureau in Mumbai, and a report from the system confirmed that the prints did not belong to the arrested man.
Sources say that the Mumbai Police were informed of the results, and further testing has been ordered.
The investigation is still ongoing, and additional samples have been sent for analysis.
The attack took place on the night of January 15, when 54-year-old actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his apartment.
Shortly after the assault, the police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad on January 19, 35 kilometers away from the actor`s home.
The police believe that Shehzad entered Saif’s apartment through the bathroom window and fled through the same route after the attack.
During their investigation, the police found a winter cap in the room of Saif and Kareena Kapoor`s young son, Jahangir.
Hair found on the cap was sent for DNA testing, which matched Shehzad.
Additionally, bloodstains found on Shehzad’s clothing were also sent to a forensic lab for further analysis to confirm whether they belonged to Saif.
At the scene of the attack, 19 different fingerprints were found. It was also revealed that two security guards at the residence were asleep during the incident.
The attacker took advantage of the fact that there were no CCTV cameras at the entrance and in the alley near the luxury home.
Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and their two children live in a residence in Bandra, Mumbai.
On the night of the attack, an intruder entered their home and stabbed the actor.
Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai in a bloodied state. He spent five days in the hospital and returned home on January 21.
