Actor Tamannaah Bhatia recently shared an amusing yet heartwarming anecdote about the unexpected impact of her dance number Aaj Ki Raat from the 2024 blockbuster Stree 2.
In an interview with The Lallantop, the actor said that several mothers have reached out to her saying their toddlers only agree to eat food while watching the song.
Tamannaah emphasized that she chooses film projects that can influence or leave a mark on audiences. “My work can’t be something I just do for a living. It needs to have some impact,” she said. Referring to Aaj Ki Raat, she added, “So be it, if a child has to watch my song to eat.”
When asked which song she was referring to, Tamannaah confirmed it was Aaj Ki Raat and joked, “I can’t tell you the number of mothers who have called me saying, ‘My child will only eat food if he hears Aaj Ki Raat.’ Bacche apne diaper mein aise aise hil rahe hote hai,” she laughed, mimicking toddlers dancing.
Responding to a concern raised by the interviewer about what this says about parenting today, Tamannaah defended the mothers, saying, “Their concern is whether the child is eating or not. Priorities matter. What lyrics will a one-year-old even understand? There’s music. Films may fade from memory, but songs stay with us. That’s a fact.”
Aaj Ki Raat is a sensual, high-energy dance number in which Tamannaah appears in a bold, glamorous avatar. The song, which features a woman telling her admirer to watch from afar without making contact, quickly became a viral sensation upon release.
Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, is a comedy horror film starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. With a box office haul of ₹900 crore, it was one of the biggest commercial successes of 2024.
