Priyanka Chopra Jonas has joined the cast of Mira Nair’s upcoming film Amri, which is based on the life of renowned artist Amrita Sher-Gil.
Priyanka will also work as an executive producer for the film.
Actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Jim Sarbh are also part of the cast, while Anjali Sivaraman will play the lead role of Amrita Sher-Gil.
The film will explore the life and artistic journey of Sher-Gil, who is considered one of the pioneers of modern Indian art.
Set across Hungary, France and India, the story follows her search for identity and artistic expression in the early 20th century.
Mira Nair said Amrita Sher-Gil’s work has influenced her filmmaking for many years and inspired the visual style of her films.
The movie is currently in the final stages of production in India and Hungary.
The project is being produced in association with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and Miramax.
